A continued source of inspiration for artist and colourist Sonya Winner who first explored the Arizona landscape in 2021 with her collection Antelope Canyon, the new Sedona collection captures the vivid earthy red and orange tones characteristic of the area’s sandstone rocks, and the intense azure of the skies. The unique and colourful canyons, bathed in the glow of the Arizona sun, presented an irresistible canvas for both Sonya Winner and McClennan to draw upon in their transatlantic collaboration.
In developing the concept, McClennan’s architectural background introduced a novel perspective on form and space, allowing for an inventive interplay between colour and line that echoes the natural landscapes of Sedona.
Sonya Winner’s original designs breakaway from traditional shapes. Assembled in layers where sculpture, movement and structure unite, her designs push the boundaries of traditional rug making technique and hand carving. Made from natural and sustainable pure New Zealand wool, each rug is skilfully hand crafted by a small artisanal team.
